Executive decision: 93 degrees is definitely too hot to wear lolita tomorrow. So instead I’m just gonna wear a cute skirt and a tanktop so I don’t die from heat exaustion or something.

I’ll just save that coord idea for when it’s a little more temperate out.

the catalog i was looking through specifically called these “gothic lolita” and i’m crying
like at least the “steampunk” patterns look sort of okay with the right styling and i mean. mainstream steampunk is literally BROWN AND GEARS, PERFECT. CORSET???/ UGLY LACE????MORE BROWN.
look at these,

As far as lolita Halloween costumes go I think these are actually not that bad. Not 100% accurate for sure, but then when are Halloween costumes a 100% accurate version of anything. And I’m no seamstress, but I feel like with some tweaking you might actually be able to make a decent lolita dress using these patterns?

You could probably save the one on the right by raising the bodice part to cover more of the chest and maybe add an extra row of ruffles to the bottom for length. Hell, switch the purple bows with pink ones and it’s already not half bad a dress. There’s potential in this pattern.
Not much can save the one on the left though. That one may just be a lost cause. Or it’s just the fabrics making me think that, I don’t know.

I can definitely see the gathered bust influence from Mary Magdalene’s Rote Rose OP, but it looks a little odd as an underdress? Definitely needs a nice cotton lace at the top, if you keep it like that. Personally, I’d like it better flat, but still with lace. And unless you’re really short, or plan on layering skirts, that underskirt could use another tier for length.
And personally, I’m not terribly fond of the length of the bells of the princess sleeves. But more importantly, what even are the colors of the right look?
